In the wake of such a chaotic year and even more tense week I began to reevaluate whom I am following on social media. In the past during seasons of overwhelm I have simply deactivated my accounts or deleted the apps from my phone however; the real power is found in unfollowing any accounts that makes you feel like you need to be someone else.
Learning to live your most authentic life may require cutting off certain relationships or setting healthier boundaries and/or stepping back from following people on social media.
The power we give the outside world can either help or hinder our mental health.
As we embrace the possibility of another shut down it’s the perfect time to set healthy intentions and habits to carry us through this “long dark winter”.
Sitting at home enjoying a staycation before entering the holiday season is giving me time and space to write, dream and reimagine myself and this brutiful life.
More than anything I want to be intentional about what I am consuming; food, drink, books, television, movies and social media have the power to inspire and encourage our lives. When we are picky about our consumption we are less likely to wake with a hangover or belly ache from overconsumption of unhealthy foods and ideas.
May I encourage you to set aside time this weekend to rethink your consumption and may you have the courage to trim the proverbial fat and garbage from your meals and feeds.
