In the middle

We are in the middle of a pandemic.

We are in the middle of uncertainty.

We are in the middle of fear.

But growth and intimacy with God comes in the middle places. And it’s in the developing intimacy with God that we find joy.

Melanie Shankle, Everyday Holy

Being in the middle is hard and honestly we all handle the middle differently.

I remember the last time I was in the middle it was a complete and utter sh!t show. I was numbing and barely hanging onto my sanity. Looking back I am not even sure I realized how much damage I was causing myself until it was too late.

We will have many middles in our lives and this is just another middle.

I do not think there is a right or wrong way to handle the middle. We are all unique and have our own personalities with differing paths to restfulness.

This is when I like looking inside and seeing what I personally need in the midst of the chaos.

Right now some might need structure and others might need to throw all structure out the window. There is no wrong or right way to dealing with stressful situations.

How can I be present in my life today?

Taking time to ask ourselves what we need will bear more fruit than copying what everyone else is posting and doing on social media.

You are unique and individual.

You have different hobbies and interest.

You also have a different perspective based on your past experiences.

We all have to find what works for us right now.

For me structure is working while others may feel overwhelmed with having a schedule.

Be kind to yourself today.

Be kind to others today.

As we walk through these times of uncertainty just remember to give yourself and others grace.

This is uncharted territory.

I think the key is to find what feeds your soul daily.

What keeps you connected to yourself?

What brings you joy?

What brings you peace?

This middle may be over soon or it may last a while.

My hope is we can embrace the middle in a way that serves us individually.
