As my life has begun to shift and change I am finding it harder than expected to maintain the same rhythms I had with writing. I am in a season of transition and so all the expectations I had for myself have gone out the window.
This morning on my walk I heard Seth Godin’s talk about the question, “what would you do if you knew you would fail?”
Seth goes on to say this question is more helpful than what would you do if you knew you would NOT fail because then there is no limit. You could say join the Avengers or fly. However, what would you do if you knew you would fail brings to mind something you enjoy and would do even if you knew you would fail.
So, what would you do if you knew you would fail?
This question made me shift my perspective on this newsletter and writing.
What if I just shared little moments or thoughts from my morning?
What if I just shared where I am at in the moment in a quick note and photo?
Even if no one read or liked this newsletter this is something I could do and I would enjoy. It could be my own way of documenting my healing journey in little snapshots. I have a lot of goals for myself but the main ones are simplicity and consistency.
I would love to be able to run a 5K this year and yet, I am still healing my physical body so I am focusing on walking. I started with a mile and have gradually increased my distance.
Learning to stay present with myself and not looking back on when I was able to run half marathons while also not looking too far into the future… just staying present and doing what I can to heal day by day. This is the art of living.
Is staying present easy for you?
Do you spend too much time reflecting or dreaming about the future?
What can you do today to stay present with yourself in your current circumstances?
Until tomorrow may you find courage to stay present,
