What does it look like to sow something in your life?
Sow is a verb meaning to plant seeds for growth or to set something in motion.
Every day we wake up and what we do first sets our day into motion. These actions are sowing a seeds into our lives.
What seeds are you sowing into your life?
In this past year I have gotten really intentional about my morning time again. I brought back things that worked for me in the past and I added new practices to help relieve my PTSD symptoms.
Despite all my efforts it has felt like something was missing or to put it a better way there was a lack of depth to my rhythms.
Connection.
Last night for the first time I went to a gathering of women at a local church and I quickly realized the missing piece to the puzzle.
As I process life and focus of healthy rhythms for my healing and growth I need to be able to share what I am doing, struggling with and learning in community. This external processing and connecting helps bring better awareness to myself.
When we struggle alone or are in isolation it is easy to find ways to okay our unhealthy behavior. Without connection we are sowing seeds of deceit. There is a reason group therapy in any form (addiction, weight loss meetings or bible study) helps people with what they are struggling with in life.
Connection is the missing piece.
Connection with other people who are struggling or even just mining through the seasons of life together is important.
For his “body” has been formed in his image and is closely joined together and constantly connected as one. And every member has been given divine gifts to contribute to the growth of all; and as these gifts operate effectively throughout the whole body, we are built up and made perfect in love. -Ephesians 4:16 The Passion Translation
How do we move from sowing at home alone to connecting within our community?
In my last post you may have read how my anxiety had begun to rise about reentering the world. Based on the comments and messages I received I am not the only one struggling to navigate this shift.
Despite my fears and over thinking gathering again I am beginning to believe it is imperative for me to find a way to make this apart of my life more frequently.
As I pray for direction for my next steps of hosting a gathering I hope you too will begin to look at finding ways to connect face to face again.
Out of the shadows we CAN and will RISE again together in community seeking to find connection, encouragement and inspiration to begin to sow seeds of growth and movement in our lives.
